Kate Beckinsale gave one of her Instagram followers a taste of his own medicine after the social media user criticized her new blond hair color, with the actress sending a lengthy reply to the fan in the comments section of her post on Tuesday morning.
“If there was any doubt that @kathyhilton has bigger Christmas balls than anyone else, let this be an end to it.
Thankyou @kathyhilton, @nickyhilton and my girl @parishilton for a lovely,warm family night.🎄🎄🎄” the 50-year-old “Serendipity” actress captioned a carousel of festive photos from the Hiltons’ holiday party.
In the photos, the classically brunette star rocks light blond hair, posing in a sequined pink Raisa Vanessa midi dress ($3,450) and matching feathered wrap with massive silver platform heels.
While plenty of fans loved the look — like one who wrote, “Blonde definitely gives you a different aura about yourself. Looks like it also invites fun and spontaneity!” — one Instagram user made sure to point out he preferred Beckinsale’s old hair color.
“😍 Why such a color? I thought the original was better – a shame,” the fan commented, prompting the “Underworld” star to clap back.
“because sometimes one fancies a change and is not too bothered about what @scholten.andreas may think about it ,given we clearly do not share the same aesthetic, nor do we know each other,” she quipped.
Beckinsale — who shined in a glittery bodysuit for her 50th birthday this summer — took it a step further by asking the fan if he’d like people “saying they don’t think your orange puffer jacket flatters you,” referring to the coat the Instagram user wears in his profile picture.

The “Van Helsing” star continued to ask the fan why it was appropriate for him to remark on someone’s appearance, wondering, “Were you brought up to think your unwarranted opinion is the most important factor in any situation ? If so, tell your mum she did a bad job .”
Dozens of Instagram users chimed in to congratulate Beckinsale on her clapback, like one who wrote, “once again, you’ve proven that the pen is mightier than the sword!” and another who hilariously commented, “so what you’re saying is you DON’T like the puffer jacket?!?!”
While fans were shocked by her style switchup, this isn’t the first time Beckinsale has gone with a lighter look; she sported a short blond wig while filming the movie “Jolt” in 2019.
