Amanda Bynes briefly dyes hair black amid fresh start: ‘I’m going back to blond’

Forget “new year, new you” — Amanda Bynes is sticking with her bleach blonde hair for the start of 2024.

The actress, who debuted platinum locks earlier in December, did debate going to the dark side, though, briefly going back to black ahead of Christmas Eve.

“Dying [sic] my hair black tonight,” the 37-year-old shared via her Instagram Story on Dec. 23.

The text appeared alongside a photo of a box of Revlon hair dye ($5), which the aspiring manicurist apparently used to take his bleach blond hair jet black.

Later on in the night, Bynes shared a photo of her new look: dark, midnight-colored tresses, which she wore in a half-up, half-down style.

Though her dark hair was a new change, it isn’t the first time the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising graduate has sported black hair color; In fact, she only went bleach blond earlier this month.

However, shortly after switching things up, she seemed to have changed her mind. By Dec. 24, she snapped a mirror selfie showing a bleaching product all over her head.

“I didn’t like the black hair on me and I’m going back to blonde [sic],” she told her followers.

As of now, it seems the “What a Girl Wants” star is halfway there, rocking blonde roots while the rest of her hair is still dark, explaining that Sally Beauty was closed and she ran out of lighter dye, though she declared the half-and-half look “cute.”

It could be that Bynes is still figuring a few things out ahead of 2024. Recently, she released a new Spotify podcast, “Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast,” but decided to take a break after just one episode.

“I would rather get my manicurist license and have a consistent job,” she explained about the pause, adding that she was hoping for A-list guests like Drake and Post Malone. However, the next day Bynes resumed the podcast with a second episode.

Back in July, Bynes checked into an inpatient mental health treatment center amid ongoing struggles. The stay came after she was found walking around Los Angeles naked and was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. The incident occurred almost one year after her eight-year conservatorship ended.
